Bija Yoga is a multilingual space for yoga, bodywork and meditation in Berlin Kreuzberg which opened in October 2017.
Why Bija? Bija means ‘seed’ in Sanskrit – the essence or heart of a thing. We believe yoga is a series of tools intended to help each of us return to that seed, reconnect to it, and help it take root to grow in the world.
Who’s at Bija Yoga? While we are open to other lineages and styles, most teachers at Bija Yoga are primarily influenced by ISHTA Yoga – the Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda. Bija Yoga is also the home of the Berlin ISHTA Yoga Community and Teacher Trainings. Learn more about ISHTA here.
What’s at Bija Yoga? We believe in honoring the needs of the individual yogi; providing a comforting and safe class environment that is supportive and evolutionary for all levels of mind, body and spirit; offering a home for a friendly community of practitioners; and ensuring a trusting and dedicated relationship between teacher and student. Our small and cosy studio (maximum 12-15 students) ensures a positive and personalized atmosphere for all. In addition to weekly flow classes in English and German, we offer pre & postnatal courses in English; regular workshops in topics like restorative yoga, meditation, yoga and voice, and more; and ongoing 200- and 300-hour Yoga Alliance-registered Teacher Trainings in the ISHTA style.
Where is Bija Yoga? We’re located in the beautiful Graefekiez ‘yoga row’, between the U8 (Schönleinstr.) and the U7 (Südstern). You may also take the M41 to Körtestrasse. See ‘Finding Us’ for maps and more details.
